Landmark Strategy Group, a nationally licensed and bonded receivables management firm located in West Seneca, NY, has long worked with the Buffalo-area community. Led by Landmark’s Director of Business Development, Mark Lesinski, its executive team has over seven decades of experience in the ARM industry and has built a culture focused on community service wherever possible.
Mr. Lesinski began his community service involvement roughly 11 years ago when he worked at the Buffalo City Mission every Wednesday. For 9 years, Mr. Lesinski’s Buffalo volunteering would usually include 2-3 hours a week meeting folks in the Buffalo community and volunteering his time either making food, handing out dinners, or gathering clothing for those in need.
“You have to be there. You have to get involved,” Mr. Lesinski said. “You have to see the impact of 2-3 hours of your week serving your community. What it does overall for the community is wonderful.”
As the COVID-19 pandemic took over public consciousness, Buffalo City Mission had to reluctantly cease volunteering at their shelters. Mr. Lesinski and the rest of the Landmark team sought out additional ways to volunteer their time and began working closely with Habitat for Humanity. Between the team’s demolition and construction work for Habitat for Humanity, Landmark Strategy Group began a concerted effort as a cohesive team to seek out new and exciting ways to give back to the Western New York community.
With the team full steam ahead working with Habitat for Humanity, Mr. Lesinski began volunteering with FeedMore WNY.
“They encapsulate the warehouse that prepares the food but also merged with meals on wheels. Their group is truly outstanding,” Mr. Lesinski said. “After four years working with them and volunteering with the Landmark team, I just can’t get over the difference it makes getting involved in the warehouse, community, streets … It’s different from writing a check. Getting out in the community is beyond a positive experience.”
Enabling the Team
Landmark Strategy Group works as a team helping its neighbors in need through volunteering with and donating to organizations that create an immediate positive impact. Building a culture that is focused on providing exceptional service to clients on the job and volunteering off the job has created an immediate impact in the Buffalo community.
One of the first team activities Landmark participated in was packing 20 pounds of food into backpacks for children in need. Mr. Lesinski was made aware that thousands of children would go home to empty kitchens and made an effort to connect with the schools to get food to those who need it most.
“We all have responsibilities,” Mr. Lesinski said. “We all have families, children, and soccer games, but being able to carve out a couple of hours in our week or in our month to pay it forward is much needed right now.”
Industry-Wide Community Involvement
As the collections industry continues to face negative press and fight an established bad reputation, Mr. Lesinski said it was important for those working in the industry to share what ARM industry organizations do to help. While no one is one to brag in the community about volunteer efforts they do in their free time, “sharing a positive message during such a negative time can help pay it forward.”
Mr. Lesinski said that although not everyone can volunteer their time, he encourages everyone to make donations, participate in food drives, and much more each week to help these community organizations make a real difference locally and nationally.
“Anything you can do to help is much appreciated by everybody,” he said.
